This is what we call our sustainability strategy and how we aim to make a positive impact on our environment. We are convinced that we want to be an active part of shaping a more sustainable future not only for our sport but also for the planet.
Nature is our playground and the Green Trail Spirit is our promise and our commitment to its protection. In addition, one of our responsibilities is to minimise our impact on the environment.
We get involved in the preservation of the landscapes where we run with small gestures that, however, can have a real impact on the way we think and act in relation to the environment and mountain running.
- Biodegradable bollards
- Selective recycling
- Environmental referee
- Running T-shirt made from recycled material
- No plastic
And we want the trail clubs of the Canary Islands to join the Green Trail Spirit.
We only ask that they participate in some environmental activity. They can choose between those organised by the Office of Environmental Participation and Volunteering of the Cabildo of Tenerife on any island thanks to the support of collaborating entities or the club can propose its own sustainable actions. In return, they will get discounts for their members on race registration and other awards and gifts that will be distributed through a raffle.
Are you joining the Green Trail Spirit?
The Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB 2025 will continue its collaboration with ‘Tenerife Renace’, the Cabildo de Tenerife's initiative aimed at the recovery of the island's mountains ravaged by a major fire in the summer of 2023. Last year, 22% of the participating athletes in the race made a donation in support of this project.
The process is very simple and you can do it from the registration platform itself. You will find a drop-down menu on the registration form that will give you the option to donate the amount you want. If you also want to give up the T-shirt that we give you in the runner's bag, we will donate the amount to the same cause.
This is part of the Green Trail Spirit that we like so much about Tenerife Bluetrail.
